Making your own bread was never easier!

Makes 1 loaf – Prep 10min – Oven 45min

Ingredients

500g T55 flour + extra
100g oat flakes
150g mixed seeds
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
1 tsp salt

Recipe steps

1

Put a baking tray in the oven and preheat the oven to 200°C fan.*

2

Put the flour in a bowl. Cut the butter into little cubes, add to the flour and rub between your fingers until the mix resembles rough breadcrumbs. Add the oats, mixed seeds, bicarbonate of soda and salt and stir to combine. Pour in the buttermilk and mix gently with a wooden spoon until it all comes together into a sticky dough.

3

Tip the dough onto a well-floured surface, roll in the flour until no longer sticky, then shape into a round loaf, measuring approximately 20cm in diameter.

4

Take the baking tray out of the oven and put a piece of baking paper on it, then lift the loaf on it and cut a cross into the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. The bread is done when the bottom of the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.

5

Transfer onto a wire rack and leave to cool before eating.

6

*Or use a pizza stone if you have one. Bake the bread directly on the hot stone, no need for baking paper.
